This activity is about writing a special sort of poem called acrostic poem.
1. Look at the samples I put on these slides.
2. Figure out the structure of this kind of poem.
3. Write your own acrostic poem using the Acrostic Poems online writing tool. If you want to use any idioms (z.B. ‘Schmetterlinge in Bauch haben’) look up the keyword (in this example, ‘butterflies’) in the Cambridge International Dictionary of Idioms. Your result will look like this:
Don’t forget to use the Cobuild Concordancer if you’re not sure about sth. Here are some of the concordances I found to ‘butterflies in one’s stomach’. In German you use this idiom only when you talk about being in love, especially at the beginning of a relationship.
4. Send your poem as a written comment to this post. Those of you who have a microphone or a headset also have to add an audio comment with you reading the poem.
Be creative and have fun!

Hi Lena.
This is a wonderful acrostic poem. You think a lot of the trip to England, don’t you? Well, I hope you’ll find the hilly street where you can enjoy the wind.
Very nice. See you on Monday.

Hi Dana.
You wrote a simple and nice acrostic poem. Now, try to read it aloud and to record it as an audio comment. Check out the pronunciation. You can use PONS or the online talking dictionary of English pronunciation (http://www.howjsay.com/).

However you feel, eat a happy meal.

Hey, guys.
A very funny one. You’ve even got a rhyme in it, though acrostic poems are not about rhyming.
Now, pick up your microphone and send this poem as an audio comment. Check the pronunciation.
